Eight Keys To Success – Henderson

“Eight Keys To A Better Me”  is a sponsored book program by Eastex Telephone Cooperative Inc.  to second graders in the Henderson School systems.  This book lists and illustrates eight key traits which could influence children in their character development that will lead to a better self-image, to better relationships with others, and to a better life.  The eight traits it focuses on are; Honesty, Respect, Patriotism, Kindness, Courage, Responsibility, Feelings, and Self Worth.  We purchase these books from a company called Family Traditions out of Gastonia, NC and they are then distributed to the children. By reading these thank you letters from the students in our community, it is clear that they have benefited from the book and Eastex is proud to help in any way possible!

Students Appreciate Eastex

Eastex is a big supporter of the local 4H and FFA students who are looking to better their future by raising livestock.  These students are learning what it means to have a responsibility.  What it means to gain personal development skills.  Most importantly, what it means to earn something by hard work and timeless efforts.  Most of these students put their earnings towards a college education.  Through these organizations,  students are enriching their lives and Eastex is here to help!  These are some of the thank you letters Eastex has received and we are so grateful and honored to have helped.

Important Update to FCC Net Nutrality Rules

On February 26, 2015, the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) passed Net Neutrality rules which classify the Internet as telecommunications service, permitting the FCC to regulate Internet providers with what the FCC describes as “light-touch regulatory treatment.”  Several customers have contacted Eastex asking what the rules will mean for them.  Eastex would like to assure its customers that we do not anticipate any immediate impacts to Internet speeds or quality of service.  As a member-owned, not-for-profit telephone cooperative, we continue to be committed to providing the best possible service to our customers.  The FCC’s 332-page Order has not yet been released, so it is difficult to predict how the Order might eventually impact Eastex or its customers.  Even after the Order is released, appeals, litigation or legislation may follow that determine if and how the Order is implemented.  Therefore, it is a shifting landscape.

One can read the documents the FCC has released on this subject here:
