The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced that the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is ending. The last fully funded month of the ACP discount is April 2024. However, to reduce the financial hardship on ACP participants, Eastex will fully fund the ACP discount for one additional month, through bills issued May 1, 2024. It is our hope that by extending the ACP discount through the month of May, households with students will not experience any disruption to their internet pricing during the current school year.
Beginning with bills issued June 1, 2024, ACP customers should expect their internet pricing to reflect the non-discounted or full retail price. For most customers, this will mean an increase on their bill of approximately $30 per month. For ACP customers residing on tribal lands, the internet price will increase by approximately $75 per month.
ACP households may still qualify for internet discounts through a separate government assistance program called Lifeline. Lifeline provides monthly discounts to an eligible customer’s voice service (home or wireless service, but not both) or broadband internet service.
ACP households may change their internet service or opt-out of continuing service after the end of the ACP. ACP households may also switch their internet plan without penalty. To make changes to your internet service or account, or for further questions about ACP, please contact Eastex via email at customersupport@eastex.com, or you may call your local office: (800) 232-7839 (Henderson & Waskom) or (800) 732-7839 (Livingston).
