Experience the call of the wild at Gators & Friends
You don’t need a passport to get up close and personal with some of the most interesting creatures on the planet. Located just a short drive away in Greenwood, Louisiana, Gators & Friends combines thrills and hands-on animal encounters for a day of family-friendly fun.
The adventure park, which opened in 2006, is home to a menagerie of creatures from around the world, including about 150 Louisiana alligators, capybaras, kangaroos, ring-tailed lemurs, and more. Visitors can even hand feed some of the animals in the exotic animal petting zoo.
Gators & Friends is dedicated to educating the public about animals, their natural habitats, and what humans can do to help protect animals and encourage species to thrive. The park is a popular destination for school field trips and awards a Family 4 Pass to a student at a participating school each month as part of its Zookeeper for a Day reading initiative.
Excitement awaits at the daily alligator feeding shows, and brave visitors can even have their photo taken with a gator as a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Thrill-seekers looking to keep their adrenaline pumping can head over to the Gator Raceway to feed their need for speed. The 1,600-foot go-kart racetrack features lots of twists and turns. The go-karts can hit speeds up to 35 mph, and there’s even a two-seater option available.
