A Message to Our Livingston Area Members
On Tuesday April 28, 2026, Eastex Livingston area members experienced a service outage that affected internet and some phone services. We know how disruptive this was for families, for businesses, and for anyone who depends on us to stay connected. We're sorry for the inconvenience, and we want to be transparent about what happened and how we responded.
What Happened
At approximately 1:10 p.m., contractors working for another provider cut a fiber line between Henderson and Nacogdoches. Eastex's network is built with redundancy, so traffic immediately rerouted through our Houston path, and service continued without interruption.
Then, at approximately 2:35 p.m., while the first cut was still being repaired, a separate, unrelated fiber cut occurred in Grangerland, caused by a gas company excavation. With both primary paths severed simultaneously, internet service was lost for Livingston area subscribers, and some phone services were affected.
Our team began coordinating restoration immediately. The Henderson–Nacogdoches fiber was repaired at 3:40 p.m., restoring internet service to the Livingston area. The Grangerland fiber was repaired at 9:30 p.m., fully restoring network redundancy.
What This Means Going Forward
Neither cut was caused by Eastex or our crews. Both were the result of third-party excavation outside our network. That said, we don't measure ourselves by who caused an outage, we measure ourselves by how quickly our members are back online, and by what we do to prevent the next one.
We are already evaluating additional diverse fiber paths and route redundancy investments to reduce the impact of future third-party incidents. Protecting your service is the reason this cooperative exists, and we will continue investing accordingly.
Thank you for your patience yesterday and for your continued trust in Eastex.
