Understanding Speed Tests

Many factors can cause speed tests to provide inaccurate network information and internet speed reports, therefore, Eastex has created our own speed test tool to help you determine the connection speeds between your modem and our equipment.

When you perform the test, make note of the speed result and perform the test at least three times to obtain an average. Please note, Eastex can only guarantee speeds for a hard-wired connection to your Internet gateway with no other client devices connected. “Hard-wired” means a laptop or desktop computer capable of 1Gbps speeds, directly connected using an ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on your modem.

For our 1-Gig customers, you can expect download speeds up to 940Mbps and upload speeds up to 880Mbps. If the results are not within an acceptable margin (typically 80% of the advertised rate for your broadband package), then we ask that you provide all three testing results to Eastex when contacting us.

During installation, our technicians will be happy to check your speed for you using their laptop.
